- Don’t eat so much that your stomach feels completely full; try to eat small, frequent meals instead.
- Try not to eat anything within 2–3 hours before going to bed.
- Sleeping with a high pillow will help prevent acid from refluxing into your throat.
- Avoid wearing clothes that are too tight around your waist and abdomen.
- Do not exercise on a full stomach. Avoid abdominal exercises in particular.
- Try to avoid consuming spicy, heavily seasoned, excessively fatty, acidic, and carbonated beverages, as well as ready-to-drink fruit juices, strong tea, coffee, and foods and drinks containing chocolate and cocoa, especially before bedtime.
- Avoid fatty pastries like börek and poğaça.
- Try to avoid consuming milk, yogurt, and ayran.
- Do not consume oranges, tangerines, lemons, pomegranates, sour apples, or kiwis.
- Do not smoke or drink alcohol.
- Do not add excessive amounts of lemon juice or vinegar to your meals.
- Choose grilled or boiled foods over fast food and fried foods.
- Do not use ketchup or mayonnaise in your meals.
- Try to drink 1.5–2 liters of water throughout the day.
