Inside our nose, there is a structure called the septum that separates the two nasal passages from one another. The front part of the nasal septum is made of cartilage, while the back part is made of bone. In children, most of the septum is made of cartilage, whereas in adults, the bony portion takes up more space. In healthy individuals, the nasal septum should be perfectly centered and divide the nasal passage equally into two parts. Because our nose is located in the center of our face and is the most prominent part of the face, it is exposed to many types of trauma. Often due to the effects of these traumas, and sometimes due to genetic factors, fractures and deviations occur in the nasal septum. Depending on the severity of the deviation, blockages may occur in the nasal passages. In some cases, this deviation can completely block the nasal passage, preventing the patient from breathing through the nose at all.
WHAT CAUSES NASAL SEPTUM DEVIATION
People with a deviated nasal septum experience nasal congestion. They cannot breathe comfortably through their nose and are often forced to breathe through their mouth. Depending on the severity of the deviation, snoring, impaired sleep quality, and sleep apnea may occur. The deviation in the nose can narrow the openings of the sinuses, leading to recurrent sinusitis attacks.
HOW IS A NASAL SEPTUM DEVIATION TREATED
Unfortunately, it is not possible to correct a nasal septum deviation with medication. If this deviation is causing discomfort for the patient, the septum must be corrected surgically. Nasal septum deviation surgery is typically performed through the nose. There is no external incision. Post-surgery

Unfortunately, it is not possible to correct a deviated septum with medication. If this curvature in the nose is causing the patient discomfort, the septum must be corrected through surgery. Septum deviation surgery is typically performed through the nose. There is no external incision. After the surgery, there is significant improvement in breathing through the nose.
